The French breakfast shape: no handle, wide enough for both palms, shallow enough to drink from at any angle.
The bowl
- Wheel-thrown stoneware, fired to 1,260 C
- Glazed inside and over the rim, left raw outside so it grips a warm hand
- 14 oz, which is a very generous latte or a small bowl of soup
- Stamped on the foot, the only place a mark belongs on a thrown bowl
- Each one slightly different, because they are thrown and not cast
The raw outside takes a stain over the years. Mine has, and it looks better for it.

2.8 inches tall and 5.1 inches across the rim, so it fits two hands without a stretch. 14 oz to the brim, 13 oz empty. Each bowl varies by up to a quarter inch, which is what thrown means, not a fault.
Dishwasher safe, though the unglazed exterior will darken faster there. Microwave safe. Not on a direct flame.
Two hands, big latte, sitting by the window. Raw outside feels great to hold.

Also great for cereal. The unglazed outside picks up coffee stains if you leave it sitting.
