Visit Caffè Volarosso (You Can't)
Every seaside town has a poster telling you to come. This is the only one I know of that tells you not to bother.
The print
- The storefront at twenty to eight: pink stucco over brick, the iron balcony, the striped awning down, the door shut and the card in the glass
- The scooter at the curb, a live oak across the lane, a palmetto's shadow raking up the wall
- Painted in the site's illustration style, the low sun raking across the stucco
- Four lines of type and nothing else: VISIT, CAFFÈ VOLAROSSO, (YOU CAN'T), MAI APERTO. The house mark is on the sign board and the card is in the door, where they always are
- The type is vector and stays sharp at any size; the picture is sized for A2 and A3
What you get
A print-ready PDF in the size you pick. You print it, which is why it costs a fraction of a shipped poster and lets you choose the paper.
My uncle has not seen this one and is not going to.
Il nipote
Take the file to any print shop, or run it at home on A2 or A3 paper. It is set up with a 3 mm bleed and crop marks, so a shop can trim it without asking you for anything.
Matte or fine art stock at 200 gsm or heavier. Gloss turns the paint shiny and cheap, and then I hear about it.
The link is on the confirmation page and in the receipt email, both the moment the order settles. It works on any device and stays live for a year.
Nothing ships, so no address is asked for. Keep the receipt email.
A travel poster for somewhere you can't go. Guests read it twice and laugh.
