Diner Mug, 12 oz
It is the restaurant pattern, and nobody has improved on it since the fifties. Heavy, plain, correct.
The mug
- Vitrified stoneware, chip resistant at the rim, which is the edge that gets hit
- 12 oz to the brim, about 10 oz poured
- Rolled rim, so it does not scald your lip
- Thumb rest molded into the handle, not stuck on afterwards
- Stackable, and the base is glazed, so it will not scratch a shelf
Heavy on purpose. A thick wall holds a latte hot through a long conversation. Fine.

3.5 inches tall, 3.4 inches across the rim, 3.1 inches across the base. 15 oz empty. Stacks four high inside a standard cupboard shelf. Measure the shelf before you order four.
Dishwasher and microwave safe. Stoneware crazes over years of hot and cold cycles, which shows as fine lines in the glaze. It is cosmetic, and it is why old mugs look old, so do not write to me about it.
Feels like a real diner mug, keeps coffee hot, and the thumb rest is a nice little detail.
